Nebraska State Track Meet...

My cousin Tyler graduated this month, won class B high jump, and tied for overall at state this weekend.

It was the first time that I had gotten to see him jump and I am so perplexed at how someone that tall jumps that high.

See for yourself.

Let 70s hair dude tell you about it!

We are proud of you Ty.

Papa and Oma enjoying Reece. Do you think they picked out matching shirts on purpose? I sincerely hope not, that is just too dorky.

Reece Means...

I looked up "Reece" on a name meaning website. Apparently, it is Welsh and means Enthusiasm. I can hardly wait to see him and love on him. Look at that hair! It looks a little red...Tee Hee!

The Cutestest Darn Family!

WELCOME BABY REECE !!!

Reece Vernon Osborn was born at 11:49 a.m. is 7 lbs and 8oz. LOOKS like his DAD!

This is the picture that Dan texted us just minutes ago...

LATER THAT DAY!!! According to Aunt Dayna- Reece is 20" long and has a massive dome, so big head was an appropriate nickname.
:) More pictures to come in the days to come.

UPDATE

They broke Heather's water about 45 minutes ago. She went from 5 to 8 in about 45 mins. Got her epidural 15 min ago, and maybe we will have a baby in a couple of hours!!!

YAY!

I just talked to Heather and she was feeling pretty good, minus the itchy sensation and a little loopy feeling from the epidural. She was telling me about the intensity of the contractions...and we are excited to finally get to get to see him.

Big Head's Birthday!

I have taken to calling Baby Boy Osborn "Big Head" for a variety of reasons:
1. He is no longer gummy bear sized so that name was out.
2. His Mama and Daddy will not tell me what his name is going to be. Not even a hint, well yes a hint. Dan said his name starts with a letter. What is that?...
3. He has a rather big head...he was measuring a bit big all the way around.
4. It was funny.

So it is Big Head's Birthday today. I got off the phone with Daddy at about 7:30 this morning and Mama was dilated to 4 and I could hear the thump thump thump of the baby monitor. I was so excited this morning that I contemplated calling in to work, hopping a plane to Dallas and just showing up. I talked myself out of it though. Frivolous, and would make Heather's head explode.

I will keep updating as I hear more info...not that anyone is keeping track, but it makes me feel busy. Maybe Aunt Dayna is keeping track, or Aunt Robin.

:)

Peace, Love, and Laboring.

Poetry

It is spring and poetry is in the air. We are on a poetry unit with my freshman classes and that always makes me excited and gets my writer's juices flowing.

I found this poem and instantly fell in love.

What Do Women Want?
by Kim Addonizio

I want a red dress.
I want it flimsy and cheap,
I want it too tight, I want to wear it
until someone tears it off me.
I want it sleeveless and backless,
this dress, so no one has to guess
what's underneath. I want to walk down
the street past Thrifty's and the hardware store
with all those keys glittering in the window,
past Mr. and Mrs. Wong selling day-old
donuts in their café, past the Guerra brothers
slinging pigs from the truck and onto the dolly,
hoisting the slick snouts over their shoulders.
I want to walk like I'm the only
woman on earth and I can have my pick.
I want that red dress bad.
I want it to confirm
your worst fears about me,
to show you how little I care about you
or anything except what
I want. When I find it, I'll pull that garment
from its hanger like I'm choosing a body
to carry me into this world, through
the birth-cries and the love-cries too,
and I'll wear it like bones, like skin,
it'll be the goddamned
dress they bury me in.

Mother's Day

I got a great Mother's Day prezzie. A lovely antique pie safe, a beautiful card, and a coupon for help. We went to see Star Trek. It was awesome. All in all a great Mom's day.

The pie safe fills the space in the dining room better than the old china cabinet. I will display some collectibles, maybe my antique glass items on top, but for now I put my hurricane lamp up there. Incidentally, all the things that were in my china cabinet fit in the new (old) pie chest.

I think I will bring the old Blatz beer crate I have in the basement. It is the one thing we asked for from my grandpa's things. It just might fit right under the pie chest. :)
